INTRODUCTION

Pymen Cables manufactures a full range of low-voltage armoured power cables — XLPE insulated to IS 7098 (Part 1) and PVC insulated to IS 1554 (Part 1) — with both copper and aluminium conductors, ranging from 1.5 sq. mm to 630 sq. mm, for systems up to and including 1100 V.

Quality is engineered in, not inspected in. From conductor drawing to the final drum, every stage of manufacturing is controlled and tested in our own plant, and every despatch is accompanied by a test certificate.

XLPE Insulated Armoured Cables — IS 7098 (Part 1)

Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation gives these cables a higher continuous conductor temperature and greater current-carrying capacity than an equivalent PVC cable, along with excellent dielectric strength and resistance to moisture and ageing. Where load density is high and space is limited, XLPE delivers more power through a smaller cable.

  • Copper or aluminium conductors, ranging from 1.5 sq. mm to 630 sq. mm, 1100 V grade.
  • Single-core, two-core, three-core, three-and-a-half-core, four-core, and multi-core constructions.
  • 90°C continuous conductor temperature; 250°C short-circuit rating.
  • Higher current-carrying capacity and lower losses than PVC cables of the same size.
  • Excellent resistance to moisture, chemicals, and thermal ageing.

PVC Insulated Armoured Cables — IS 1554 (Part 1)

Heavy-duty PVC insulated cables remain the proven, cost-effective choice for general power distribution. Tough, stable, and easy to handle, they perform reliably across a wide range of industrial and infrastructure applications.

  • Copper or aluminium conductors, ranging from 1.5 sq. mm to 630 sq. mm, 1100 V grade.
  • Single-core, two-core, three-core, three-and-a-half-core, four-core, and multi-core constructions.
  • Type A general-purpose PVC rated at 70°C, and Type C heat-resistant PVC rated at 85°C.
  • Excellent mechanical toughness and resistance to oils, acids, alkalis, and moisture.

CONSTRUCTION

  • Conductors made from electrolytic-grade annealed copper or H4-grade aluminium, stranded and compacted to form a smooth, round core.
  • XLPE or PVC insulation, extruded to close tolerances for uniform wall thickness.
  • Cores are colour-coded and laid up with non-hygroscopic fillers, followed by protection with an extruded inner sheath.
  • Armouring consists of galvanised round steel wire or galvanised steel strip, selected as per the relevant IS specification. Single-core cables for AC systems are armoured with non-magnetic material.
  • Outer sheath made from high-grade PVC, with FR, FRLS, and ZHFR compounds available on customer request.
  • Black outer sheath as standard, with embossed identification and sequential length marking on every metre.

APPLICATIONS

  • Power distribution and transmission at 1100 V and belowacross industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Direct burial in the ground, installation in ducts and trenches, or laying on trays and racks — the steel armour provides protection against mechanical damage.
  • Substations, switchyards, and distribution networks feeding transformers, panels, and switchgear.
  • Industrial plants, refineries, cement, steel, textile, and process industries where cables are exposed to vibration, heat, and chemical environments.
  • Outgoing feeders from DG sets, transformers, motor control centres, and main LT panels.
  • Pumping stations, water treatment plants, irrigation schemes, and submersible pump feeders.
  • Street lighting, highways, airports, metro projects, ports, and railway installations.
  • Solar and renewable energy plants for inverter, array, and evacuation cabling.
  • FRLS and ZHFR grades for hospitals, hotels, data centres, malls, and high-rise buildings, where low smoke emission during a fire is critical for safe evacuation.
